Getting the Baby Nursery Walls Ready
When planning your baby nursery, determine the color of paint and then preparing and painting walls is a major part of the design process. You'll want to choose paint colors that match the theme or design scheme that you decide for your baby nursery. The best way to do this is by taking a piece of nursery bed to the paint store with you to select a sample of the paint. You may want to bring back samples you choose to see how they look in the room. Sometimes the room lighting will affect how the colors look, so do this to save you the trouble of painting the room if you are not satisfied with the results.
If time allows, it is best to paint the nursery at least one or two months before the baby is expected. This allows time for the room to air out. You also might want to consider choosing a paint that has no or low VOC (volatile organic chemicals evaporate). Type of paint may be more expensive but worth the extra cost because they will eliminate the smoke in little or no not like normal paint.
If you want to get creative when painting a wall, you can try faux painting techniques such as sponge and ragging. Another idea is to design a stencil on the wall corresponding to the chosen theme for the room. If you have an ocean theme, fish stenciled on the wall would look really cute. You can buy all the equipment you would need for stencils or fake paintings at a local home improvement or paint supply stores.
Of course, you are not limited to paint when deciding what to do with the baby nursery wall. Wallpaper, wallpaper borders, and murals all good choices for the nursery wall. Wallpaper and border can sometimes be found to coordinate with the nursery theme you choose. Sports, aircraft, marine, animals, Precious Moments, and Winnie the Pooh only a few themes that you will need to find a wallpaper or border.
If you want to go with a wall mural for your baby nursery, there are several routes you can take. You can purchase a mural that can be placed on the wall wallpaper the same way. You just assemble the mural piece by piece like applying wallpaper. Another option available is paint by number mural kits that you paint on yourself. If you do not want the murals covering the walls of peeled, whole and stick decals are great choices. You can often find them to customize many nursery themes. Final option is to have a muralist paint the mural. It can be quite expensive though unless you or someone you know is a talented artist and could do it.
Whatever you decide to do with your baby room walls, remember to consider what you do with the rest of the decor. After the walls that complement the design theme of the room and will bring the whole room together.
